Support members in public funding opportunities
The DIA provides matchmaking support for its members towards building viable consortia that can successfully bid into public funding opportunities, such as Horizon Europe, SNS JU, or national funding initiatives.
facilitate joint industry-academia projects
The DIA organises research challenges, such as the 2025 Open Challenge Fund, sponsored by a DIA industrial member, against which DIA research members may bid. Resulting projects are managed by the DIA directly, serving as a mediator between industry experts and researchers, such as in our current OCF Projects.
exchange knowledge through events
The DIA organises events, such as our DIA Summit 2025 and the upcoming DIA Summit 2026, for the Datacom community along emerging topics, while also facilitating the outreach of the DIA and its members to relevant community events through attendance, presentations, and panel participations.
shape research agendas
The DIA leads and organises contributions of the Datacom community into research agendas of various European and international initiatives, providing crucial guidance and input into future funding programmes at European and national levels. Most recently, DIA organised contributions to Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda (SRIA) of NetworldEurope, acting as main editor of Protocols & Communication Paradigms chapter [link coming soon].
organise input into consultations
The DIA organises member- or DIA-level input into EU or national consultations to focus the voice and views of members towards strategically important actions and recommendations, such as the recently provided feedback to the adoption of the Cyber Security Act by the European Commission.
establish cross-ecosystem working groups
The DIA provides a collaboration platform for its members, organised in working groups around vertical industries and horizontal technology areas. As an example activity, speaker series are organised, that allow the DIA members and the wider Datacom community to gain insights into topics such as AI, cyber-security, resilience, and others, bringing together experts for exchange of ideas and knowledge.
create and disseminate publications
As an output of DIA working groups, whitepapers are produced that provide input into relevant Datacom community activities, such as standardisation and technology selection, such as done through the Railway WG whitepaper on “cybersecurity in FRMCS”.
